Cos4Hope has five main volunteer areas:
Cos4Hope Ambassadors: Your role is not just about spreading awareness of our cause and mission. It's about directly contributing to our mission's success and making a significant difference in the lives of those we serve. For instance, our past ambassadors have organized community events that led to a 30% increase in public awareness about mental wellness and suicide prevention. Your efforts are crucial and impactful.
Role and Impact: Ambassadors are not just pivotal in spreading awareness about the mission and activities of Cos4Hope. They play a crucial role in connecting the organization with the community, increasing visibility, and educating the public about mental wellness and suicide prevention. Ambassadors are critical in mobilizing support and fostering engagements that are vital for the success of the organization's goals. Cos4Hope Board Members: Cos4Hope is operated by a working volunteer board! To become a board member, you can start by volunteering in one of our committees and demonstrating your commitment to our mission. You can then express your interest in joining the board, and we will guide you through the process. You can contact Board Members anytime to learn more about how they became board members and what they do, ask for advice, introduce them to people in your network, and share your feedback!
Accessibility and Interaction: The board of Cos4Hope consists of volunteers actively steering the organization toward its mission. They are approachable for inquiries about their roles, seeking guidance, or understanding more about the organization's operations. Community members can introduce the board members to potential collaborators, share feedback, and learn from their experiences and insights.
Cos4Hope Committee Member: At Cos4Hope, we don't just work on projects and events. We collaborate closely, sharing our skills and ideas and supporting each other. Leadership and Direction: Leaders of the Cos4Hope committees are responsible for guiding their activities and ensuring that they align with the organization's overall goals. They motivate and manage the committee members, fostering an environment where innovative ideas can flourish. They are crucial in driving the mission forward, embodying the spirit of the organization, and creating a beacon of hope.
Cos4Hope has various committees, some of which are seasonal planning committees, while others are active year-round.
Communication Committee: This committee ensures that all internal and external stakeholders are kept informed about Cos4Hope's initiatives and events. It manages the flow of information to maintain transparency and support the organization's mission. The committee leverages various media, including social media, newsletters, and press releases, to reach a broad audience effectively.
Cos4Hope Heroes Committee: This unique committee highlights and honors individuals and groups within the community who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to mental wellness and suicide prevention. Recognized as 'Cos4Hope Heroes,' these individuals embody the spirit of heroism through their resilience, advocacy, or support. Cos4Hope Kids: The Cos4Hope Kids Mentorship Program is designed for kids by kids to engage with schools, universities, and youth organizations to bring young people into meaningful conversations about mental health and suicide prevention. By using pop culture as a gateway, this program makes it easier for young individuals to connect with and understand the importance of mental health.
Development Committee: Focused on securing the future of Cos4Hope through fundraising, partnerships, and strategic alliances. This committee ensures the organization has the necessary resources to expand its reach and impact. It is crucial in identifying and cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant-making institutions.
Education Committee: Dedicated to developing and implementing educational programs that integrate discussions on mental health and suicide prevention with elements of pop culture. This approach helps make difficult conversations more accessible and engaging, particularly for younger audiences or those new to mental health advocacy.
Event Committee: This committee is responsible for the planning and execution of all major Cos4Hope events, including workshops, seminars, and public awareness campaigns. Each event is designed to align with the organization's mission to foster education, support, and community involvement in mental wellness and suicide prevention.
Healing & Loss Committee: Provides resources and support for individuals and families affected by suicide or mental health struggles. This committee organizes support groups, memorial events, and healing activities, offering comfort and community to those grieving or recovering.
HopeCon Committee: Manages the organization of HopeCons, which are family-friendly conventions that blend the excitement of comic cons with the serious purpose of raising awareness about mental health issues. These events serve as both a fundraiser and a platform for community engagement, featuring activities like cosplay parades, exhibitions, and resource sharing.
IDEA Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Accessibility Committee: Ensures that all programs and activities are inclusive and reflect the diverse community Cos4Hope serves. This committee actively works to remove barriers to participation and ensures that all voices are heard and respected, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to accessibility and equity. We value and celebrate diversity in all its forms, and we strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed and respected. Marketing & Public Relations Committee: Handles all aspects of Cos4Hope's public image, including branding, media relations, and online presence. This committee ensures that messaging is consistent, appealing, and effective in reaching a broad audience to draw attention to the cause.
Special Event Committee: This committee organizes one-time or unique events that do not fall under the regular programming of other committees. These could include special collaborations, anniversary events, or large-scale advocacy campaigns.
Volunteer Committee: Manages the recruitment, training, and engagement of volunteers who are critical to the functioning of Cos4Hope. This committee ensures that volunteers are well-prepared to participate in events and activities. We provide comprehensive training sessions and ongoing support to all our volunteers, equipping them with the tools and information to be effective advocates for mental health and suicide prevention. This way, you can feel confident in your ability to contribute effectively.
Each committee contributes uniquely to the overarching goal of promoting mental wellness and suicide prevention, leveraging the collective efforts of its members to create impactful changes and sustain the vision inspired by Cos4Hope.
Day-of Event Volunteers: These amazing volunteers show up on the day of an event and generally assist with specific shifts throughout the day. There are several opportunities sprinkled throughout the year to help Cos4Hope with events.
Volunteers can assist the event with set up or tear down. You can run a station for event registration, exhibitor registration, prize pickup, craft tables, and more! We need your help! Our busiest time of the year for day-of volunteers is in August for the fall SuperMini HopeCon and during Spring for our HopeCon+Walk in April.
Intern/Practicum/Work Study/Focus Specific: Volunteers choose one or two categories such as Administrative, Advocacy, Communication, Education, Fundraising, Program Development, or Support.
